What have I been doing since I last updated the site in Oct 2007 ?

Earning a crust is very demanding, so I have to balance it with my astronomical imaging. Some nights I'm just too knackered to get out there, but having the 12" LX200 with it's GOTO facilities does help on those night when I'm dithering.

I've started to concentrate more and more on wide field deep sky imaging, mainly because it has less demands on the equipment and time that I can spend doing it. Typically a during a session of say 2 hours with the Canon EOS 300 D and the William Optics Megrez 80II FD I can get 10 - 20 four minute exposures and about 10 four minute dark frames, enough to get a good start on a subject. Typically now I'm spending several nights on one object so to get a complete image could take a couple of months (especially those faint galaxies).

So there's less solar system work to see and no deep sky stuff through the 12" LX200 Classic yet, but I've started to experiment in this area so keep coming back.
