Hi, My name is Chris Longthorn and I am an electrical engineer. I live and work in Rugby in the UK. I have been interested in Astronomy since I was about 11 when the Apollo moon shots were taking place. Over the years I have owned several telescopes and I currently use a 14 inch F4.1 Newtonian Reflector on an Equatorial Mount. I have had an observatory at my current address for quite a while now. The present observatory was built by myself from August to November 2001. Previously I had a run-off roof shed which housed an 8.5 inch Newtonian Reflector, the new observatory was built so that I could upgrade to a larger telescope.Visit the Observatory page to see how I constructed Cymbeline Observatory. I am Secretary of the Coventry and Warwickshire Astronomical Society. The meetings are very interesting and are held at 7:15 p.m. on every 2nd Friday of each month at Earlsdon Methodist Church Hall in Earlsdon, Coventry. If you are interested you are welcome to come along, your first visit is free. I have also been a member of the British Astronomical Association since I was 17. |
